HOW TO CONNECT TO PHOBOS WITH DREAMWEAVER (SFTP)
I. CONFIGURING DREAMWEAVER: Getting Started

  • Open Dreamweaver and at the file menu located at the top of the Dreamweaver window, click on Site > New Site...

II. CONFIGURING DREAMWEAVER: Local Info Settings
  • Next the New Site configuration windows will appear.

  • Item number 1: Click on Advance tab.

  • Item number 2: If Local Info has not been selected, click on it.

  • Item Number 3:
    1. Site Name: Phobos
    2. Local root folder: C:\Local Folder\Website\ or where your website is locally
    3. HTTP address: phobos.ramapo.edu/~username

III. CONFIGURING DREAMWEAVER: Remote Info Settings
  • Before clicking OK we will proceed to configure the Remote Info Category.

  • Item number 1: Click on Remote Info to start configuring.

    1. Access: FTP
    2. FTP host: phobos.ramapo.edu/~username
    3. Host directory: WWW
    4. Login: username (your email username)
    5. password: type in your email password
    6. Save: check the box
    7. Use Secure FTP (SFTP): check the box

  • Click on Test (item E), to check the connetion. If your setting is correct, you will get the message that “Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 connected to your Web server successfully”. Close the message by clicking OK and close the New Site Configuration by clicking on OK on the next screen.

IV. DREAMWEAVER BASIC: FILES PANEL

  • The Files Panel is located on the right side of Dreamweaver window. If you do not see the Files Panel, go to the File menu (located at the top), click on Window > Files.

  • Item 1: Files Panel Tab.

  • Item 2: Connection Button (use to connect to remote site/Phobos)

  • Item 3: Download Button (use to download file/files from remote site to local folders/site)

  • Item4: Upload Button (use to move file/files to the remote site/phobos)

  • Item 5: Expand Button (use to expand the Files Panel. Expanded Files Panel will have both Local Files Window and Remote Files Windowside by side.)

V. DREAMWEAVER BASIC: EXPAND VIEW OF FILES PANEL

  • When you click on the Expand Button, Dreamweaver will display on full screen the Files Panel.

  • Item 1: Remote Site Window display all the content from your WWW folder. To download file from Remote Site to Local folder/site, select the file to be transfered by clicking once the file, click on the Download Button.

  • Item 2: Local Files Window display all the content from your local folder/ site. To upload file from Local Folder/ Site to local folder/site, select the file to be transfered by clicking once on the file, click on the Upload Button.
