Information Technology Services (ITS) provides academic computing, administrative information systems, and telecommunications services to faculty, staff, and students. Currently, ITS oversees operations in over 30 Computer Labs as well as manages all other computing and telecommunications support.
Ramapo College has an impressive array of facilities, including newly renovated academic buildings, a fully electronic comprehensive library, environmental education center, media center, campus store, and a performing and visual arts center with two theaters, art studios, galleries, and classrooms.
All classrooms, labs, and faculty and staff offices are equipped for Internet access, and all resident students’ rooms are wired with compatible technology and cable TV. More than 30 technologically advanced computer labs containing nearly 600 PC and Macintosh computers are available throughout the campus, some open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All Ramapo computer labs offer access to the Internet, Web and e-mail. Ramapo students use a variety of computing resources for teaching and learning. These include a research-quality, UNIX-based Sun Solaris system offering statiscal analysis, program languages, and Oracle, a database engine, and Macintosh and Windows-based applications.
More than 30 academic computing labs are open for independent study, in some labs, student assistants are available to provide support.
Applications include Microsoft Professional Office, which includes Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint. All labs include networked laser printers.
Labs in the Berrie Center for the Visual and Performing Arts and the H-wing of the academic complex are equipped with Macintosh computers which support Graphic Arts and Video Editing.
Software includes Quark Xpress; Adobe Photoshop; word processing; and Final Draft, a script-writing program. The labs also include scanners, television and printers.
Some computer labs are located in Residence Halls as well as the George T. Potter Library.
